Jackson County Republican Executive Committee Endorses Palazzo

In their first meeting following the June 1 Republican Primary, the Jackson County Republican Executive Committee unanimously voted on a motion to endorse Steven Palazzo as the Republican candidate to face Gene Taylor in the general election in November. The motion was entered at 7 pm Thursday June 10 during the monthly meeting of the Jackson County Republican Executive Committee.

Palazzo defeated Tea Party favorite, Joe Tegerdine, 60% to 40% to gain the nomination. It was Tegerdine’s first time ever running for political office. Palazzo has been serving in the Mississippi state legislature since 2006 and in 2009 was awarded the Elected Official of the Year by the MS Wildlife Federation. He and his wife Lisa own an accounting firm, Palazzo & Company and they reside in Gulfport, MS with their three children.

The general election for the Fourth Congressional District seat will take place on November 2, 2010 that will include Steven Palazzo, representing Republicans, and Gene Taylor, representing Democrats as well as a few independent candidates on the ballot.
